Network Designing / Planning / Implementation

When discussing network design, it is useful to categorize networks based on the number of devices serviced:

  • Small network

  • Medium-size network

  • Large network

  • When designing network we work on following key points

  • Cost-Effective

  • High-Performance

  • Low-Cost Operations/admin cost

  • Back Bone Design

  • Highly Available/redundant solutions

  • VLANs / VPN Requirments

  • Local/Remote backups

  • Hierarchy : of the network model we consider in designing as a reliable network infrastructure where it helps classifying complex problem of network design into smaller and more manageable areas.

  • Modularity : By separating the various functions that exist on a network into modules, the network is easier to design. It is the design in which a system's components may be separated and recombined, often with the benefit of flexibility and variety of resources in use it can be identified in several modules, like enterprise campus, services block, data center, and Internet edge. Debugging of that unit was exceedingly laborious because of the lack of modularity.

  • Resiliency : The network must remain available for use under both normal and abnormal conditions. The network design shall consider the ability to recover readily when the abnormal function happens.

  • Flexibility : The ability to modify portions of the network, add new services, or increase capacity without going through a major forklift upgrade (i.e., replacing major hardware devices.

Network can be of any types like:

  • Multi Building Enterprise Network Design

  • Core Switch Network

  • Flat Network
